John
Murray
Managing Director
johnmurray@ctlfilms.com
|
|
|
John's passion for adventure and exploration is apparent in
every aspect of his career. With a degree in Zoology from Trinity
College Dublin John began working as an "underwater journalist",
travelling the world, researching, photographing and diving
on some of the most famous shipwrecks on earth. Back in Ireland
his background in science and journalism found an outlet working
as presenter and reporter for RTE on nine different series of
science, environmental and health programmes.
In
1991 an Irish mountaineering expedition to the Himalayas proved
too much of a temptation for John to stay at home… Armed with
an old 16mm camera he joined the Irish Manaslu expedition
and filmed the first Irish attempt of an 8000 meter peak.
His first film "Manaslu, Summit of Soul" was critically acclaimed
and served as the impetus for John to establish his own production
company, Crossing the Line Films. Two years later the first
Irish Everest expedition departed for the Himalayas and again
John was there to film the highs and lows of the Irish team
as they made their way to the top of the world.
Over
the past 10 years Crossing the Line Films has gone from strength
to strength and depending on his availability John now produces,
directs or films individual projects. John has established
very successful relationships with national and international
broadcasters and produced some of the most successful Irish
documentaries of recent years. His passion for adventure and
exploration remains as strong as ever and is still the driving
force behind each and every project that Crossing the Line
produces.

Ross
Bartley
Cameraman / Director
rossbartley@ctlfilms.com |
|
|
A graduate of St Andrews University, Scotland, with a Masters
in zoology from University College Dublin, Ross was headed for
a career in wildlife conservation when he first joined the Crossing
the Line crew in Mexico in 1998. Starting off on "Across the
Line 2, Alaska to Argentina" Ross has gone on to work on every
production the company has made since.
Growing
up in France, Ross is fluent in English and French and also
speaks very good Spanish. He has travelled extensively and
filmed in many of the most challenging and inhospitable places
on earth. With vast experience in all aspects of production
from developing and researching new ideas to filming and directing
documentary series, Ross occasionally works with other production
companies but remains full-time staff with Crossing the Line
Films.
Combining
his understanding and passion for nature with his skills as
one of Ireland's leading cameramen, Ross has filmed some of
Crossing the Line Films most breathtaking productions. He
has recently completed filming and directing a third series
of Wild Trials, a critically acclaimed wildlife series for
RTE.
Camerawork,
travel and above all wildlife remain his passion, his experience
and his forte.
